ABOUT

making BARGOED dementia friendly

Bargoed is on its way to becoming a dementia friendly community after we obtained Recognition Status as a community working to become dementia friendly by the Alzheimer's Society in May 2021.

Towns, cities, and villages across the country are now seeing what they need to do to become dementia friendly, recognising the need to act and change to support people with dementia better

A dementia-friendly community is a city, town or village where people with dementia are understood, respected and supported. In a dementia-friendly community people will be aware of and understand dementia, so that people with dementia can continue to live in the way they want to and in the community they choose.

While people with dementia face barriers to engaging with their community, it is possible to make changes that can make their day-to-day lives much better which is the intention of this work..
